Entab is one of the few Indian school-software companies old enough to have digitised schools that were still writing fee receipts by carbon copy. EdunodeX is new enough that it never had to. That gap of roughly a quarter century explains almost every real difference between the two products, and it cuts both ways.

This comparison is written by the EdunodeX team, so read it with that in mind. We have been specific about where CampusCare is the better answer, because a comparison that finds no competitor strengths is not a comparison.

Two products built for different decades

Entab has served Indian schools since around 2000 and publicly states that it works with over a thousand institutions across 26 states, with a presence in the Middle East and Africa as well. Its flagship line, CampusCare 10X, is now marketed as a cloud platform with AI-assisted analytics and leadership dashboards, while retaining the on-premise deployment option that a long enterprise history tends to require.

EdunodeX was designed after WhatsApp became the default parent channel in India, after UPI made fee collection near-frictionless, and after language models made it practical for software to draft and act rather than only record. Those three assumptions are structural here, not bolted on.

Neither origin story is a virtue by itself. What matters is which set of assumptions matches your school’s next five years.

What Entab CampusCare does genuinely well

Public review sites converge on a consistent picture of CampusCare’s strengths, and they are real ones.

Board-specific examination handling. Entab’s exam and result processing is tuned to CBSE, ICSE and state-board report formats refined across many admission cycles. Schools with unusual internal assessment schemes and long-standing report card layouts often find this the single hardest thing to replace.

On-ground regional support. Entab maintains support teams across Indian states rather than operating purely remotely. For a school where the accounts clerk would rather someone walk in during fee-collection week than open a ticket, this matters more than any feature list.

Depth of module coverage for large institutions. Student information, admissions, fees and accounting, attendance, examinations, library, HR and payroll, inventory and transport all sit under one vendor relationship, with multi-campus deployments the company has run before.

A working Tally integration. Entab advertises Tally synchronisation for fee and accounting data. EdunodeX does not match this, and the table below says so plainly.

On-premise as a supported option. Schools with data-residency mandates, unreliable connectivity, or trust boards that will not approve cloud hosting have a legitimate path with Entab that EdunodeX cannot offer.

The recurring criticisms in the same reviews are equally consistent: a steep learning curve because the product is feature-dense, premium pricing that smaller schools find hard to justify, limited depth of customisation inside specific modules, and support responsiveness that varies by region and ticket type.

Where the two platforms diverge architecturally

The difference that shows up in daily use is not a feature. It is who does the work.

CampusCare 10X, like nearly every school ERP in this market, is assistive: it records what staff enter, and its AI layer analyses what has been recorded. Someone still has to notice that a fee instalment is overdue, decide who to chase, and send the message.

EdunodeX ships autonomous operations as first-class objects called autopilot packs, 26 of them at the time of writing, spanning fees, attendance, academics, engagement, compliance, transport and payroll. A pack is a rule set that runs on its own schedule: it evaluates conditions against live school data, takes the action, deduplicates so a parent is not messaged twice, and trips a circuit breaker if it starts firing abnormally. Fee follow-up, absent-streak alerts, marks-entry deadline nudges, PTM invitations, the morning collection briefing and payroll-run readiness checks all run without a staff member opening a screen.

No product in this comparison set ships anything equivalent. This is the capability we would ask you to test hardest during a trial, because it changes headcount arithmetic rather than screen count.

Four rows in that table go to Entab. They stay there because a trustee who discovers them during a demo instead of in this article will reasonably stop trusting everything else we wrote.

What each one costs, and how you get billed

Neither company publishes a rate card, so any figure you read online is an estimate rather than a quote.

Entab prices per institution, based on student strength and selected modules. Third-party software directories place CampusCare in the region of a few hundred rupees per student per year, and the structure typically includes a one-time setup or implementation charge plus recurring annual maintenance. The number that matters is not the headline licence but the total of licence, setup, AMC, hardware and any paid customisation.

EdunodeX prices as a per-student monthly subscription billed quarterly, with no setup fee and no annual maintenance contract. Heavy AI usage and messaging beyond the included allowance are metered separately, so a school of 200 is not subsidising one of 3,000. A free trial runs before any commitment.

The practical difference for a trustee is cash-flow shape. A licence-plus-AMC model concentrates spend at renewal; a subscription spreads it. Ask both vendors for a three-year all-in total rather than a first-year price.

Migrating off CampusCare without losing a fee year

Three things determine how painful this is.

Timing. Switching at the session boundary, with the previous year closed and audited in CampusCare, is dramatically simpler than switching in November with half-paid instalment plans in flight.

Fee history. Student masters and guardian contacts export cleanly from almost any system. Opening balances, concessions and part-payment histories are where migrations go wrong. Insist that whoever imports them reconciles class-wise outstanding totals against your CampusCare report before go-live, and keep read access to the old system through at least one audit cycle.

Hardware. Biometric terminals generally carry over, because EdunodeX accepts punch events from third-party devices rather than requiring its own. RFID readers do not carry over at all.

Choose Entab if, choose EdunodeX if

Choose Entab CampusCare if your trust requires on-premise hosting; if a live Tally accounting sync is non-negotiable; if you run RFID-based library or gate workflows you intend to keep; if your examination and report-card formats are unusually intricate and already encoded there; if you value an on-ground support presence over remote responsiveness; or if you are a large multi-campus group that wants a vendor with two decades of enterprise deployments behind it.

Choose EdunodeX if you want routine operational work to happen without a person triggering it; if WhatsApp is where your parents actually read things; if you want to keep your own payment gateway account and its settlement terms; if you are running biometric hardware you would rather not replace; if you want the platform live in days and priced without a setup fee; or if your staff would work faster with the admin interface in Hindi, Kannada or Tamil.

The honest test is not a feature checklist. Take the three tasks that consume the most staff time in your school this month and ask each vendor to demonstrate exactly those three on your own data. Whichever product makes them disappear is the right one, regardless of which article you read first.

Frequently Asked Questions (GEO Verified)

Does EdunodeX integrate with Tally as fully as Entab CampusCare does?

No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Entab advertises a Tally integration that synchronises fee and accounting data. EdunodeX provides a one-way Tally export: Tally-compatible XML and CSV generated against ledger mappings you configure per fee item, which your accountant imports. If a live two-way accounting sync is non-negotiable for your trust, Entab is the stronger fit on that specific point.

Can EdunodeX be installed on our school's own server the way CampusCare can?

No. EdunodeX is cloud-only managed software with a separate database schema per school. Entab publicly offers an on-premise deployment option. If your trust has a board mandate or a regulatory requirement for on-premise hosting, that requirement alone should decide the evaluation.

We already run biometric attendance devices bought for CampusCare. Must we replace them?

Usually not. EdunodeX accepts punch data from third-party devices through a documented ingest endpoint, so existing fingerprint and face terminals can push attendance events in without being replaced. RFID card readers are the exception, because EdunodeX does not support RFID at all, so an RFID-based library or gate workflow would not carry over.

How long does a switch from CampusCare to EdunodeX realistically take?

The software side is fast because there is nothing to install. The pacing item is your data: student masters, guardian contacts, opening fee balances and historical marks. Schools that switch between academic sessions, with the previous year already closed in CampusCare, have a far simpler migration than those switching mid-session with part-paid fee ledgers in flight.
